So that glorified muskrat out in Punxsutawney saw his shadow, which by tradition predicts six more weeks of winter.
I learned this on the radio this morning, as drove mostly sideways to work on some of the worst roads I have ever traveled. I learned to drive in Pittsburgh, the black ice/lake-effect snow capital of Pennsylvania (besides Erie, which is actually part of Canada).
Maybe plow drivers were up late watching the Seahawks blow the Super Bowl, but it seemed like road crews — especially PennDOT — got a late start. Hope they do better with the freezing rain expected later.
If you don’t have to go out, it’s probably best to stay home and cook some comfort food. I suggest Groundhog Stew, Crock-pot Pulled Groundhog or Groundhog Goulash.
The Interwebs are loaded with recipes. All you need is the groundhog. Gobbler’s Knob, where Punxsutawney Phil resides, is about 200 miles west of Scranton.
