In my column today, I castigated a local Islamophobe for misspelling “college.” In the print edition, I misspelled “opportunity.” The web version did not contain the misspelling. I don’t know why, and it doesn’t matter. My column bears my name and face. I own the words published alongside them.

I also own my errors. I apologize to readers who expect better. I would regret this mistake even if anonymous trolls hadn’t seized upon it as an excuse to ignore the point of my column. Read it here.

Or not. I’m not looking for a second bite at a poisoned apple, just an honest appraisal of the message formed by my words, even when one is misspelled.
