Good evening.

Well, we are 7 days down, with one to go. Today was quite an interesting day because the weather just keeps banging away at me and Herbert Smith.

We traveled to Wayne County. I had my trusty Rams coffee thermos with me as we departed about 9:15 a.m. I am not like an airport, we leave at a scheduled time.

campsThe skies looked ominous my friends. Area forecasters were calling for some down pours, so we were cautiously optimistic that we could avoid them. As we arrived at Honesdale High School, it couldn’t have been more dry and muggy. Not 5 minutes after we walked onto the practice field — SPLASH! It came down in buckets. I got soaked! Poor Herb, who did bring an umbrella, but left it in the car, got drenched. We fought through, got our video, interviews and head shots done in a timely fashion thanks to the great cooperation we received from head coach Mike Jurkowski and his staff. As we returned to the KIA Rio, the sun came out! Amazing!

On our way to Wallenpaupack, we stopped at a great sandwich place. Deli Central. I am telling you, we stumbled upon this wonder last year and I looked forward to our return this tour. I had the Italian and since I have been on this crazy diet, I have not been able to finish a full sandwich. Today, that changed, that’s how good this was. It took me a while, but I did it. It was heavenly. I enjoyed it as much, if not more than Harold and Kumar did their White Castle burgers. That sub was so delicious that I wanted another, but I restrained myself. No need to fall completely off the wagon.

At Wallenpaupack and with a full belly, we caught the Buckhorns after a lifting session. Coach Mark Watson said this team is young, but judging by their size, they will remain formidable. I am telling you, year-in and year-out Wallenpaupack has HUGE kids.

Finally, we hit Western Wayne. First-year coach Randy Wolff held an impressive practice. The Wildcats were really sharp and before I knew it, I had my video, interview and picture with a few seniors done. The sun radiated off my head, again, and Herb and I took in the remaining half hour of practice and left very impressed.

So, we have one more day. Herbert is leaving me. He has another of his 10 Yankees games on Wednesday. I have to thank him for putting up with my nonsense and the worst Sirius XM radio station going. I just always forget to change it and the songs are from the 1970s and early 1980s and they are not hard rock. The next stop is at Carbondale Area and then Montrose. On Thursday, I will be back on the road, because, contrary to popular belief, GameFace must get done by somebody. And in just 10 days we are kicking this season off.

Here’s what we have for Day #7:
