Members of the Republican-controlled House Intelligence Committee are laying low after a two-year investigation into the 2012 attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya.
Turns out all those conspiracy theories the right peddled about the attack that killed Ambassador Christopher Stevens and three others were nothing more than crass politicization of an actual tragedy. Fox “News,” Limbaugh and the rest of the GOP’s well-paid prevaricators are spinning like tops trying to downplay the report.
Again, this is a House report. The Republican-controlled House. The people who hate President Obama more than the Taliban hates freedom. The investigation found no evidence of a “stand-down” order or advance warning of the attack.
It also found no evidence that the White House intentionally misled the American public about the attacks and that a military rescue was not an option. The probe did find that requests for increased security funding for the consulate were ignored by (guess who?) the GOP-controlled House.
The report was released quietly on Friday afternoon. Cowards.
