Seedings and pairings for Saturday’s District 2 wrestling duals tournament were announced, and, quite frankly, there weren’t any surprises.

Last year’s AAA and AA finalists all grabbed the top seeds and could very well meet again in this year’s finals. In AAA, Delaware Valley is the Lackawanna League’s top seed and will attempt to win its fourth consecutive district title. Last season, the Warriors dismantled Wyoming Valley West, this season’s No. 1 seed from the Wyoming Valley Conference, in the championship match, 48-9.

If both schools advance to the final, will things be different this time around? The two schools met in a nonleague match at Delaware Valley Jan. 22. While the result wasn’t different than last year’s, final, it was much closer.

Trailing by two going into the final match, P.J. Testino pinned Alex Tirko at 120 pounds to give his squad a 32-28 victory.

Delaware Valley's Jalen Palmer, left, wrestles in last year's state tournament.

The top two seeds in AA also met in last year’s championship, and, like AAA, the Lackawanna League came out on top, as Western Wayne downed Lake-Lehman, 38-28. Western Wayne garnered the Lackawanna League No. 1, while Lake-Lehman took Wyoming Valley Conference’s top spot.
