There’s no denying it — the Class of 2013 was loaded with talent.

Twelve of last season’s 13 All-Region spots went to seniors, and four of those players had received multiple All-Region selections. Between Lakeland’s Eric Grabowski and North Pocono’s Billy Nelson’s careers alone, the Lackawanna League graduated 184 hits, 160 runs, 139 RBIs, 52 doubles, 18 home runs, 15 triples, 37 wins and 387 strikeouts.

Those are some big shoes to fill. But there are plenty of players from the Class of 2014 who can fill them.

Abington Heights starter Dave Manasek helped lead his team deep into the PIAA Class AAA playoffs last year and is committed to Fordham. Valley View starter Collin Ferguson is headed to Hartford and his battery-mate Rob Nardelli is a former All-Region player and a Stony Brook recruit. Lakeland catcher James Blevins was the lone non-senior All-Region player last season.

Those guys are just the start of the top of the class. Division IV is represented particularly well in the class with Elk Lake’s Nick Dudock — 2014’s leader in hits and pitching strikeouts — Lackawanna Trail’s Matt Flynn, Montrose’s Matt Lewis and Mountain View’s Colby Thomas.
