— You can tell this State Supreme Court-ordered congressional redistricting is getting serious now.
The state Department of State set new deadlines for congressional candidates to circulate and file their nominating petitions.
The department pushed all the deadlines back two weeks.
The first day for the candidates to circulate petitions is Feb. 27. It was Feb. 13 (next Tuesday).
The deadline for filing the petitions moves to March 20. It was March 6.
Candidates will draw lots for ballot position on March 22. They have until March 27 to withdraw nominating petitions. March 27 is also the last day to object to nominating petitions to try to get candidates removed from the May 15 primary election ballot.
Meanwhile, the deadline for the state General Assembly to adopt a new congressional district map remains Friday.
