Good Sunday to you all.

Another day comes off the calendar on the 2016-17 scholastic sports season as we continue to wind down to our annual Times-Tribune Athlete of the Week ceremony which is set for June 20th. There we will honor and recognize all of our Athletes of the Week and our Performers of the Year. So with that event coming up, we release another of our All-Region teams.

Today, it’s tennis stars who we are celebrating. It was a tremendous season and I hope everyone followed along here as we chronicled the athletes’ achievements.

We had a pair of District 2 singles champions from the Lackawanna League — Scranton Prep’s Tarquin McGurrin (Class 2A) and Abington Heights’ Bailey Harris (Class 3A). So choosing between them for Player of the Year came down to their head-to-head match, which McGurrin won.

Tom Lavelle

Abington Heights also had the District 2 doubles championship team in Timmy Christman and Brian Ostrowski. The Comets won the District 2 Class 3A team title and therefore, head coach Tom Lavelle is once again the Coach of the Year. It’s his sixth such award.

So, here is the team. Go grab a copy of The Sunday Times:
