Delaware Valley at Abington Heights

  • This will be quite a battle between two teams vying for the boys Lackawanna League championship. Last season, Delaware Valley won the showdown, 108-75, and went on to finish the season with a perfect record. It was the only loss for Abington Heights.

Big 8 Championships at Central York High School

  • Last season, Scranton Prep girls had a huge day as Audrey Campo, who is now at Duqesne University, had a record-setting meet and the Classics finished second at the Big 8 championships at Central York High School. Campo set individual records in winning the 100-yard breaststroke and the 100 free as the lead leg of the 400 free relay. She was also a member of two record-setting relay teams.

    Audrey Campo

First, Campo broke the record of 1:07.63 set by her sister, Rebekah, with a time of 1:07.10 in the preliminaries. She lowered the mark by winning the final in 1:06.70. As the lead leg of the 400 free relay, Campo touched in 53.11 seconds. Her teammates, Peyton McNulty, Cat Donlon and Alison Prushinski carried through for the win in a total meet-record time of 3:40.12, which bettered the record of 3:42.59 set in 2013 by South Fayette. The team of Campo, McNulty, Donlon and Prushinski also set a record in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:50.37. Campo added an individual win in the 100 breaststroke. McNulty finished second to Campo in the breaststroke and was third in the 100 backstroke. Donlon won the 100 fly in 1:00.21 and placed second in the 200 free. Prushinski earned a bronze in the 50 free and Marjorie Myers won a bronze medal in the 500 free.

Scranton Prep finished second overall with 403½ points. West Allegheny won the title with 482 points.

The Scranton Prep boys team finished sixth overall with 168 points and Scranton Prep placed third in the combined team standings with 571½ points. West Allegheny won with 971 points and host Central York was third with 601½.

Scranton Prep’s relay team of Thomas Pfaeffle, Michael Durr, Conor McCall, and James Stanco earned a bronze medal in the 400 free relay. Pfaeffle won a bronze medal in the 100 fly.
