Close to 5,000 people filled Memorial Stadium in Scranton on Nov. 6, 1966 for a gridiron match-up between the football clubs of the University of Scranton and King’s College. This event was not an official NCAA game. The two teams met and played for the the love of the game.

The Golden Knights of King’s (now the Monarchs) defeated the Tomcats of the University of Scranton (now the Royals) by a score of 19-0.  The university ended its collegiate football program in 1960.
