Readers of The Scranton Times on April 16 were able to read a full account of the tragic events thanks to the wireless telegraph. Dispatches from the Carpathia and other ships in the area were relied to land, where reporters were able to write up the full accounts of the events of April 15 which differed greatly from the accounts published on April 15.

On page three a small article appeared letting the reader know that no passengers from Scranton were aboard the RMS Titanic. It also related that the former Lackawanna County Commissioner John Durkin, Sheriff P.F. Connor, Druggist John Loftus and M.T. Howley visited the Harland & Wolff Shipyard in Belfast and were given a tour of the Titanic while under construction.
