David Cassidy, teen idol of the 1970s, died yesterday. He was 67. Cassidy become a star when he joined his stepmother, Shirley Jones, in the new ABC television program “The Partridge Family” in 1970.
At the height of his popularity, Cassidy would come to Scranton and perform at the Catholic Youth Center on April 4, 1972. In advance of his performance, Cassidy spoke with Times editor Sid Benjamin about what he liked more – acting on TV or singing.
As time went on Cassidy would continue to act and sing. He would star in several Broadway shows including “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.” In October 1991, Cassidy and his former television brother Danny Bonaduce would perform at the F.M. Kirby Center in Wilkes-Barre.
