The idea of a wall on the southern border was always farcical, no matter who eventually paid for it. Candidate Trump insisted Mexico would foot the bill. President Trump shut down the government to force American taxpayers to fund his fantasy.

The wall will never be built. On some level, Trump knows this, but he will never willingly admit it. It’s a $25 billion boondoggle that can be defeated by a $25 ladder bought at Wal-Mart. Much of the land in question is as inhospitable to brick-and-mortar barriers as Trump is to immigrants. All the money in the world won’t change the terrain.

But Trump is desperate, and when he feels threatened, the fountain of lies constantly spewing from his mouth goes geyser. On Sunday, Trump tweeted:  “President and Mrs. Obama built/has a ten foot Wall around their D.C. mansion/compound. I agree, totally necessary for their safety and security. The U.S. needs the same thing, slightly larger version!”

Fox “News”, of course, reported Trump’s claim as fact. Other actual news outlets took a look at the actual property. No wall. Period. Trump was either lying or fantasizing. Which is OK for the President of the United States?

I’d say neither, but I trust my eyes. Trump supporters are blind to any evidence that contradicts his lies. Sad.
