Times-Tribune Staff Writer Dave Singleton has the scoop du jour this afternoon: The new Charl-Mont restaurant inside the Lackawanna County Government Center will open Wednesday. Read Dave’s story here.
County Officials (Cheese and Crackers) will cut the ribbon at 9 a.m., and the new, scaled back version of the past downtown mainstay. The original was more of a sit-down, entree-centered eatery. The reboot will offer sandwiches and other quick fare for downtown shoppers and workers on the go.
Through a $25,000 business development loan to proprietor Gino Majewski, county taxpayers became investors in the Charl-Mont, an extra incentive for supporting the venture. Last time we talked, Gino said a “specialty hoagie” named after the original restaurant would be a menu staple.
I’ll take one with no Cheese.
