One of the dumber arguments advanced by various Republican Senators in their headlong rush to let Trump off the impeachment hook was that, all evidence to the contrary, he would learn and grow as a result of the experience; that he would be chastened and somehow changed. Given that Trump is a guy who has never admitted to error, and whose life has been animated by a thirst for revenge, that was a fool’s hope. Yesterday’s off-the-rails, two-hour rant-and-whine-fest at the White House before an adoring crowd of sycophants strongly suggests that he has no plans to engage in self-reflection, other than to wallow in the image of him being the victim.

All of which is very normal and adult-like, of course.
