Of all the hangers-on in Trump’s White House of Horrors, none seems better suited to the toxic environment than his closest adviser, Stephen Miller. Having outlasted the likes of H.R. McMaster, John Kelly, Reince Priebus, Rob Porter, Don McGahn, Kirstjen Nielsen and numerous other erstwhile high-ranking administration officials, Miller’s fawning devotion to the boss has allowed him to become the point man of an increasingly cruel and legally suspect crackdown on immigrants — legal and otherwise — and asylum-seekers at the southern border. And although this presidency has all but drowned irony in a bathtub, it should be pointed out that Miller himself is descendant of refugees.
