Work hard. Play hard. It’s a mantra in Lifestyles.
Each week, two of our summer staff writers, Clare Collins and Brigid Lynett, create Facebook videos that preview what’s to come in our next edition. From Independence Day to Warped Tour and even a gardening feature, these gals have completely pushed the boundaries of creativity and sanity, with some guest cameos by Times-Shamrock staffers.
This week, our Life&Times cover features local Viking comedian Thomas the Red. Brigid and Clare came up with a storyline where they would quit their jobs so Brigid could be a Viking comedian and Clare could be her manager. Both brought in props with some help with colleagues and I wanted to lend a hand, too.
All I had to hear was viking to know I needed to make Brigid look like a cross between Disney heroine Merida and Scáthach, Lady Gaga’s bloodthirsty immortal witch and first Supreme in American Horror Story: Roanoke. While I didn’t have my normal supplies, I had an array of desk makeup to get the job done.
To create the look, we used Moscow Sunrise from Sonya Esman x Colourpop Gemini By Night palette, The Knot, Candygram and Pulling Strings from Colourpop You Had Me At Hello palette, and Colourpop Super Shock Shadow in Helio, Goodbye, Colourpop Brow Boss in Dark Brown, Milani Rose Powder Blush in Romantic Rose and Benefit Hoola Matte Bronzer.
I think we did pretty great.
Moral of the story: keep way too many products with you at all times and maybe you, too, can transform someone into a viking warrior.
