Today, law enforcement officials said that fashion designer Kate Spade was found dead in her apartment by apparent suicide. The story is here but I’m not going into the details. Beauty and style go hand-in-hand and Kate brought color, sparkle and whimsy into the lives of so many. The world will be a little less bright without her.

I don’t know what Kate was facing in her life but I will say this: mental health is important.

My best friend’s mom always says, “Your health is your wealth,” and, to me, that means mental health, too. It doesn’t matter who you are. Depression, anxiety and other mental health struggles can touch any one of us. It’s OK to say we’re not OK. And if someone needs our help, we need to be compassionate. We have to remember we are never alone.

This is a beauty blog but it’s also about taking care of ourselves. Focusing on our mental health is a big one. I wish peace, strength and love to anyone who held Kate dear. Below, I linked some local and national resources in case there is anyone who needs it.
