So far, ON THE BLOG has looked back at the running games and the top producing backs, and the best quarterbacks of the Lackawanna Football Conference.

Again, we are doing our best to establish a data base. Keep in mind the NEPFC was a two-year deal from 2000 to 2001, and technically those stats do NOT count toward an LFC record. However, we did recognize those totals in their whole if the player spent time in the NEPFC. For example, Evan Kraky of Lakeland did play in 1998 and 1999 in the LFC and two seasons in the NEPFC. Rather than break his total of 7,447 yards in half, we just used that total as the NEPFC record, just so there is a reference point to that as being the LIAA record. Kraky’s two-year total in the LFC is far fewer than his overall mark because those were his freshman and sophomore seasons at Lakeland. He also threw the majority of his 93 touchdown passes in his record breaking years of 2000 and 2001 when the NEPFC was the alignment.

I hope this clears up some of the questions regarding what is and what isn’t recognized as an LFC record.

And that brings us to the most challenging look back — the wide receivers and tight ends. OK, for some reason, and I can’t put my finger on why, it is a challenge to rank the best receivers in the LFC. Which is why, after a much closer examination, Lakeland’s Alex Filarsky actually has the LFC record for most receptions in a season rather than the former recognized mark of Lackawanna Trail’s Colin Golden. Filarsky caught 63 passes in his senior season when he earned a third all-state honor. Golden’s top total is 62.

Another mark that came into question was that of Lakeland’s Chris Washko for LIAA career catches. He had been recognized for his 136 catches, however, Lackawanna Trail’s Yogi Roth, who had two seasons playing in the old Suburban Conference hauled in what we believe to be the LIAA record of 157. Roth also had what we can trace back 81 catches in his two seasons in the LFC.

Again, guys like Washko and Roth who played seasons in other conferences other than the LIAA made this a really difficult task to sort through. So, if we have overlooked someone who may be among these leaders please reach out to ON THE BLOG with evidence.

These are UNOFFICIAL and will be updated as more information surfaces.
