Ok, fans, this is it.

This is the final recap of the 2016-17 Scholastic Sports season. Every year, around the first of August, coverage and planning really starts to shift into high gear for the new sports season. With the rapid pace at which this generation of coaches and players commit to their sports, there really is no offseason.

The phrase I love to hear from people is, “Well, no you have some down time.” Really? Look at a calendar. Dream Game practice begins in three weeks. That is 21 days away. Amazing.

Any way, before we get too far ahead for ourselves, let’s take one final look back at a fantastic spring sports season that was capped with four District 2 teams playing for state championships, three individual state champions and a lot of exciting memories.

OK, that’s all!

There are still two All-Region teams to be announced, those being in Baseball and Softball.

Tuesday night, The Times-Tribune Sports Staff will honor our Athletes of the Week and announce the winner of the Joseph M. Butler Award and the Male and Female Athletes of the Year.

I will post again following that ceremony.
